School Routines

• School starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.00pm.

• Your St Malachy school book bag should be brought into school everyday.

• Please ensure your child reads for 10 minutes every night.

• Please ensure your child arrives everyday on time wearing the correct school uniform.

Shared Reading

• Make it fun: Use voices, actions, and excitement to bring the story to life.

• Talk about pictures: Encourage children to describe what they see and make predictions.

• Spot letters and words: Point to words as you read and notice familiar letters or sounds.

• Ask simple questions: “Who?”, “What?”, “Where?”, and “Why?” help build understanding.

• Read often: Share short, enjoyable stories every day to build confidence and a love for reading.

Uniform

• Navy cardigan or jumper (with or without school logo)

• Light blue shirt

• Grey trousers / dress / skirt / shorts

• Black shoes (plain black trainers are allowed).

• A coat with a hood (please ensure it is labelled with your child’s name)
