The Mini Vinnie Team

The Mini Vinnies at St Malachy’s play an important role in helping others and putting faith into action. Mini Vinnies is inspired by the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society and encourages pupils to live out Christian values such as kindness, service and compassion.

One of their main roles is supporting charity events and fundraising in the school. For example, the Mini Vinnies help to advertise and campaign during the Harvest Appeal, encouraging pupils and families to donate food for people in need. They also help raise money during Lent by organising small fundraising activities that support charities and those who are less fortunate.

The group also takes part in acts of kindness and outreach. An example of this is at Christmas and Easter, when the Mini Vinnies make cards for prisoners to spread hope and remind people that they are not forgotten. These actions reflect the Christian message of caring for others and showing forgiveness and love.

Mini Vinnies also help to support the wider school community. They may take part in events such as Culture Day, celebrating the diversity within the school and encouraging respect for different cultures and traditions. In addition, they help care for the environment by composting waste food and encouraging pupils to reduce waste and look after God’s creation.

Other ways Mini Vinnies can contribute in a primary school include leading in assemblies, promoting acts of kindness, helping organise charity collections, supporting younger pupils, and raising awareness of important issues such as poverty, homelessness and caring for the environment.

Overall, the Mini Vinnies at St Malachy’s help the school community to live out Gospel values by serving others, promoting justice and making a positive difference in the world.
