Our School Mission

Our School Mission Statement

At St Malachy’s we strive to live by the following Mission Statement:

St. Malachy’s is a Catholic School where we will do our best to do the work of Jesus.

We will study, pray, play and celebrate together.

We will care for each other and look after each other, just like a big family.

It is important to remember that we are all good and clever in different ways.

We will learn important lessons that will help us when we grow up

In our school it will be fun and we will strive to make it a safe place.

Our school Mission Statement is regularly referred to and prominently displayed throughout school and emphasises our celebration of diversity. Following a review of the Mission Statement, it was divided into six sections. One section per half term is studied by all classes to develop an understanding and ensure it is at the core of all we do. All policies are based upon the Mission Statement and doing the work of Jesus is at the heart of everything we do.

St Malachy

St Malachy was an Irish bishop, who lived in the 12th century (1094–1148). He was born in

Armagh, Ireland and became known for his deep faith, kindness and dedication to serving

others. At a time when the Church in Ireland needed renewal, St Malachy worked hard to

bring positive change. He helped improve how churches and monasteries were run,

encouraged people to grow closer to God and supported communities through teaching and

prayer. St Malachy travelled widely to share his message and worked closely with other

Church leaders to strengthen the faith of the people he served. His life was marked by

humility, wisdom and a genuine care for those around him.

Living the Values of St Malachy

St Malachy showed values that are still important for us today, including kindness, faith,

service and courage. He believed in helping others, standing up for what is right and always

trying to grow in faith. At school, children can follow St Malachy’s example by showing

kindness to classmates, helping those who need support, trying their best in everything they

do and making positive choices each day. By being respectful, caring for others and working

together as a community, pupils can live out the same values that guided St Malachy’s life.

In doing so, they help make our school a welcoming, supportive and faith-filled place for

everyone.
