Phonics

At St Malachy's we use the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme to support children in developing strong reading and writing skills from an early age. This structured and systematic approach helps pupils learn to recognise sounds, blend them to read words, and segment them for spelling. Through engaging, fast-paced lessons, children build confidence, fluency, and a love of reading. The programme is carefully matched to each child’s ability, ensuring they are supported and challenged at the right level as they progress on their literacy journey.
